X-Day Drill 5 from #subgenius, fef.net |
It is true that Internet chat room LOGS are almost as hard to read as Internet chat rooms are when they're happening live. Multiply that difficulty by The Church of the SubGenius, and you get yards of text that's almost impossible for any normal person to read.
On the other hand, you might be a SubGenius who got the hang of chat room interaction at some point, and for you these might serve better to capture the excruciating excitement of X-Day than do the more formally written reports.
I, Stang, faithfully hit #subgenius on fef.net every Sunday night at 10 pm EST for the "Online Devivals," actually not so much devivals as party-line car wrecks -- and just as much fun for the mordant SubGenius. After X-Day 5, however, which was an unusually inspiring on,e and heavy on youthful attendees rather than fossils from The Day like myself, I could hardly stay off the damn thing. When I wasn't actually on and typing, I left my computer logging the chatter of the SubGenius magpies. Who seemingly NEVER sleep.
For many, this is a "you had to have been there" thing, but others might not mind going back even if they never WERE there, and can't remember any of it, having had their minds partially blanked by AntiSleep (not "speed," but what the humans call "sleep deprivation," a hallmark of all mind control cults worthy of the name.)
Don't worry, IRCers, I removed the personal messaging, slander, libelous accusations, backstabbing cruelties, etc.
Nah, just kidding! -- I kept the backstabbing cruelties, merely changed the names and settings.
