SaucerWatch2000 special report from Brushwood.
As many of you know, last weekend the Stella Cantata observatory
bar and grill at Brushwood became the weekend headquarters for
saucerWatch2000. My primary goal was to provide advanced warning of the
X-ist saucers arriving at earth. Taking advantage of the very dark skies
at brushwood and the unusually clear air, I was able to scan a large part
of the sky before the very heavy fog and dew common at brushwood made
observing impossible.
Scanning with low power through the cygnus spiral arm (the nearest
arm of the galaxy to our planet) showed no unusual H-alpha emission
excepted if Xist technology is based on Hydrogen fusion. This assumes
that the Xists would be decelrating and directing fusion drive flame near
the planet earth. I made sure I checked behind the veil nebula - no
saucers. However, the rumored yacatisma fleet was visible near deneb and
were definatly closer this year. Sister Decadence was kind enough to help
me check the ring nebula in Lyra, but neither of us saw the expected
fleet.
Examining the scorpius and sagitarius regions revealed many of the
usual interesting features of this part of the sky, but not the expected
fleet of vast pleasure saucers. This is the most likely region for the
X-ists to be coming from, since it is the core of the galaxy and contains
most of the mass of the galaxy. Checking the lagoon nebula came up blank,
the omega nebula is deserted, and the party in the trifid nebula that was
in full swing last year, seems to have ended badly for all involved.
Many nearby globular Clusters were examined, assuming a possibly
extragalactic origin of the X-ists, but also assuing they would not bother
to drive *too* far to get to a little backwater piece of crap planet.
While pretty, no saucer fleet was found. The Andrameda galaxy was also
checked, but 2M light years is a long way to fly and no unusual activity
was spotted in that direction.
comet LINEAR 2 was visible from brushwood after around 3:30am
(Vmag 8.3 estimated) and would provide a great hiding place for a small
fleet of saucers. The OH- ion tail of the comet is dense and would act as
camoflage for anything behind or within it. It does not appear at this
time to be providing cover for anyone, but we will know more by the time
the comet reaches parihelion on july 26th. I will be keeping an eye on
it.
Meteor activity was heavy both nights of the saucerwatch. Numerous
objects were seen entering the atmosphere in the southern parts of the
sky. These objects were (for the most part) very small and faint and *may*
have been X-ist scout vessels or single-being fighter ships at most. A
full sized saucer would have made a larger splash.
One unusual object was sighted and should be considered a UFO. A
large object was sighted moving in an east-north-east direction too fast
to get an acurate heading. Passing overhead and moving behond the horizon
to the east at a rate consistent with most low orbit objects. Its apparent
brightness (Vmag 2) and actual visible size (larger than a star) means
that it was most likely something large moving in near earth orbit. It is
entirely possible that this is a large X-ist craft, perhaps the mothership
itself in low orbit, but I doubt it, anything that visible in low orbit is
just asking for the delinquets at NASA to come along and spray paint it or
leave a flaming bag of dogshit on the front step like they did several
times to MIR.
Summery: Although an unusual object was sighted in low earth
orbit, nothing else unusual was going on. At this time, Saucerwatch has
nothing definitive to report, and I do not expect the Xists to make an
appearence anytime this year.
Rest assured, if they're up there, I'll find 'em!
