I've lately found shordurpersaviourality in learning 3D computer graphics, in particular MetaCreation's "home 3D program," Bryce.
In all the illustrated SubGenius dogma printed on dead trees and other real things, there is but one graven image drawn by me, and it's traced. I SCRIPTED some of the art in our books... but WHO CARES?? With these dang-flamed COMPUTERS, you don't have to be able to DRAW BADLY any more, to do DREADFUL ART!
Our latest outreach project is the SubGenius/INWO game, which we're producing with Steve Jackson Games. Half of the 100 illustrations for that come unbidden from alt.binaries.slack (Fernandinande, Funway, Poindexter, The Prophet Jim, that whole gang of fun-lovin' loonies, as seen in the ART MINES). Of the older "book doks," only NENSLO was crazy enough to take on ASSIGNED ART for this. NENSLO... and ME!
With these new Mac-spawned programs like Poser and Bryce, any idiot, child or over-Slacked SubGenius can crank out pretty nifty looking experiments. Getting a SPECIFIC SCENE to look the way you WANT it, though -- THAT turned out to be a LOT harder than I thought! No wonder they PAY the people who actually know what they're doing.
BUT WHAT THE HELL.
(NOTE: Some of these pictures are meant to be displayed at a large size on your screen, so large that you scroll back and forth to view them. Just so you know...) ((LATE NEWS: They just came out with a REVISED Bryce 3D ANIMATION version! (See below for leetle test movies made with the crude early beta Bryce-a-mation program.))
THE PRESCRIPTURES -- plus, read this FULLY ILLUSTRATED, detailed technical article about the filming of this intricate stop-motion scene. It's all true. Honest.

The rest of these have nothing to do with the cardset... these (and the MOVIES further down) are posted FOR YUKS ALONE.

There's a beta of Bryce going around, "SuperBryce," that has animation features in it, whereby you can set up a 3D scene and then animate a fly-though movie of it. On a home computer, mind you.
Above you saw the normal, original meaningless but weird looking Bryce picture, SPIDER VALLEY.
Canyonian Panorama This is a mightily stretched out and revised panoramic mutation of an earlier version of an uglier rendition of SPIDER VALLEY.
Canyonian.mov Here is the QTVR, or QuickTimeVR file (.mov) of that selfsame panorama. If you have any QuickTime plug-ins on your browser, you should be able to swivel around in the scene here and now. Otherwise, save it for later and use your QTVR Player. See Gallery 7 for details about the QTVR players. These QTVR files are all about 150k.
SpiderValley Panorama I brought the hellish little figures in closer to the camera, and pulled a 360 degree panoramic shot off that.
SpiderCanyon.mov ... which was then turned into this SwivelVision QTVR spectacular.
WEIRD:
CANYON1.mov This odd little QTVR experiment from the Spider Valley was a total mistake -- apparently the camera is pointing down instead of out. I dunno how it happened. But it made for a danged weird effect.
.mov
-type cross-platform QuickTime MOVIES of these 3D scenes. I have kept them very short because that's the only way to make them very SMALL. They'll run on a browser, but you should download 'em, save 'em as source, drop 'em in your .mov player, and PLAY THEM ON "LOOP". PLAY THEM ON "LOOP". PLAY THEM ON "LOOP."
Sometimes, before I return to my coffin, I grab one of my old Bryce scenes and set it to rendering a fly-by movie while I "sleep."

Dobbs himself can no longer be photographed (Kirlian erasure problems), but sooner or later we WILL recreate his HEAD, his mere APPEARANCE, in the computer... and "bring life to the image," so to speak. The Bible suggests it!
The 2 movies below may be broken down into still frames which SubGenius artists may find useful, as the True Dobbshead is shown at damned near every angle you can think of. I guess we skipped "directly overhead," but otherwise this is a handy 'Pocket-Every-Angle-of-a-Dobbshead-In-A-Drum.'
