Well, I downloaded the bootleg of that new Star Wars
movie yesterday,
and the one I got was of an infuriatingly murky nature
visually --
muddy looking and out of focus, very low-res. I watched
the first 10
minutes or so and, well, it's a Star Wars movie, all
right.
So far my verdict is, "Eh, I think I'll wait until
the high-res illegal
bootleg comes out."
I did get a plum copy of The 13th Warrior, which I
haven't seen. Some
of the movies I've downloaded look amazingly sharp,
have clean stereo
sound, yet still fit onto one CDR. Harry Potter and
Lord of the Rings
are going around that way... really unbelievable picture
quality.
I haven't had to update the DivX codec in two weeks!
I think of the very first Star Wars movie as right
up there with the
old The Wizard of Oz movie. I found Return of the Jedi
unforgiveable --
one of the few movies I actively disliked after seeing
it. The rest of
the Star Wars movies are about what you'd expect after
the Conspiracy
gets aholt of something good.
Boy howdy, I sometimes wish They would wreck SubGenius
next. I could
retire if They ever decided we were worth ruining.

It's fucking cool as hell. Antonio Banderas is now
permanently
paroled from the Prety Boy Pit in my book. Him and a
bunch of bad-ass
Vikings...well, watch it. A good movie from every viewpoint,
from look
to sound to plot to action to characters (parts of the
action actually
serve to develop individual characters, THAT's how good
it is). It's
even SUBTLE, in that Banderas' character is the protagonist,
but by no
means the baddest of the bunch. I shall say no more,
watch it...

Watch especially for the line "Grow stronger!"
One of the most appropriate lines ever delivered. I
often use it as an
example of a certain philosophy.
