Subject: bad luck

Dear Ivan,
I just wanted to let you know, that I experienced some bad luck lately. To wit, I was driving down route 123 (chain bridge road) out of the district of columbia to my home in virginia, taking a new way home. The traffic was bad, as it usually is around here, and I could not get out of the right turn lane. That turn lane, unfortunately, led into the Central Intelligence Agency. That turn lane is a divided road, so I could not turn around before the entry post, a squak box, where I asked to be able to turn around. I was directed to come to the guard house, where my car and I were searched, and the Security Investigative Service turned up a small quantity of 'frop. I'll spare you the other sad, sad but mundane details, but I wanted to let you know that when, upon rifling my wallet, they encountered my subgenius membership card, and said:
"You're not involved with *them* too?" in an extremely disapproving manner.
I guess you have friends in high places. Anyway, thought you should know.
