I read the whole thing... it IS long but extremely informative.
Makes
things make more sense, in that he clearly outlines
geographical and
historical aspects of Afghanistan which illuminate why
the hell life
there can be so... bizarre. I hadn't realized to what
extent those
people were still TRIBAL. I knew the farmer types out
in the boonies
were what we would call practically STONE AGE, but I
didn't know why.
There sure are lots of reasons that have nothing to
do with politics or
religion. (Some of them are called "mountains.")
