This is my Update from my web-site...
09.11.01 - Well, I promised to update this Daily. If
you don't already Know
what's goin on then turn on the TV.
It's sickening to say the least. I am fortunate to say
that everyone I was
worried about is OK. Here is my log for the day.
I woke up feeling misarable. I've been sick for the
past few days and it
wasn't getting much better. I had to get to work today
cause I left early
yesterday and I needed to follow up with a bunch of
things. I decided to
call in late. Figured I could take some medicine and
get to work OK by noon.
I work in Mid-town Manhatten.
Anywaze, The server at work (VPN server) had Abended
(crashed). So, I dialed
in and reset it. I then proceeded to email the IT dept.
that I'd be in late.
At about 9:05am, the wife calls me and asks if I saw
the news. I had not so
I turned it on. I was horrified. Yup, I the Reverend
Sinphaltimus Exmortus
could not believe that 2 airplanes crashed into the
Twin Towers.
I figured the city would be in chaos so I decided to
get up and attempt to
get to work right away. I didn't want to miss the day
in case they needed
me. So I get in my car and go.
I get a clear view of the city daily on my way to work.
Both in my car and
from the train. I was on the Grand Central Pky when
I saw the scariest site
ever. Both towers billowing smoke. It was like a wierd
panoramic scene from
some modern day disaster movie. To see both towers spewing
forth such a dark
and huge collapsed pillar of smoke.
Well, anywaze, I'm sure you've seen the pictures and
video so I won't try to
explain it all that much. I get to the train station
and hear that there is
train service into the city. Kewl, I can get to work.
As I'm on the train
platform, trying to see the fire (I can't because my
view is blocked by a
building in the distance) I dial work. I can't get through,
my cell phone
doesn't work at all. I notice a lot more smoke than
before but think nothing
of it until a co-worker (via NexTel's walkie talkie
feature) tells me that t
hey just announced that one tower fell. The plan is
to close the office and
send people home. I freak, immediately thinking of everyone
I know in and
around the Twin Towers. I notify him that I am going
home, I will not come
into the office, I can be reached at home if need be.
There was no traffic on the way home but the parkway
was jammed on the
west-bound side. On the way, I hear over the radon that
the other tower
collapsed and I am getting reports about the pentagon.
I'm thinking WW3,
X-Day is here and the fuggers forgot about me. No, seriously,
I freak. I
just know a few very close people that are in or around
that place. I get
home and can't get through on the phone to anyone so
I start sending emails.
I'm not in the mood to continue this story.
I'll rap it up here. After a personal day of mental
chaos, I am still ILL, I
am taking Motrin and cough medicine waiting for this
virus to leave me. I've
been drinking and I'm tired. I have to get my ass to
work tomorrow and move
on. Everyone I can think of has gotten back to me at
some point in the day.
Each had a horror story. Either they were in the first
tower when it got
hit, out in the street just below the 2nd impact, within
a half a block of
the towers during the first collapse or watched the
disaster from the rooves
of thier office building, everyone is OK. Cuts and bruises
aside, they are
alive.
I'm hanging in there with my fellow New Yorkers. We'll
get through it. This
was a blow against the nation as well as my home city.
The fact that I'll
never gaze upon or stand upon those buildings again
is enough to make me
build my own saucer and get the hell off of this Mud
Ball. You humans have
made such a mess of things and right now, I'm really
sick of it.
Blame someone and punish them. Do what you gotta do,
I want no part of it.
You all make me sick.
