Now get this. I'm back at the SubG Found.HQ skyscraper, home from the
Legume Resurrection and the GWAR tour, I'm well, I made some dough,
recorded lots of real good tape, even caught up with most of the email and
phone calls, there are no impending deadlines or terrible tragedies or
breakdowns (also no impending JOBS but those can be FORCED to happen at
the last minute), everything's hunky-dory, and I finally tuned in
alt.slack after more than a MONTH, and the little newswatcher screen says
there are 5,100 posts.
5,100!!!
This is probably an illusion. There are 5100 I haven't read but that
doesn't mean they're still on the server, even though Metronet keeps
alt.slack for almost 2 weeks. And Newswatcher won't dump more than 1600 or
so into my view at a time. But still. WHEW.
I know I missed a lot of action. I'd like to know if anybody out there has
been archiving alt.slack the last 2 months, especially all the backlash
and run-off relating to Legume's resurrection. Don't send it yet -- just
let me know if you have it stashed somewhere. I may well be able to go
back and fish out most of it off AOL... they hold stuff FOREVER it seems,
at least a month... it's just REAL SLOW and CLUMSY to deal with.
I have plenty of adventures to brag about and probably quite a few
misconceptions to set straight, from what I've heard, but I now gird my
loins and prepare to hack my way back into the dense undergrowth of
alt.slack for the first time in many weeks, PRAY FOR ME, I'm going IN,
AIEEEEEE!!!!
