In Hindu and Buddhist chronology, it 's [web search], uhh, a real long time. One of those
bird-wearing-away-a-mountaintop-by-sharpening-its-beak-every-thousand-year--ers.
I think I once saw a number attached to it, but I don't know how significant it is (unless it measures how long you have to stay in Christian Heaven before making it to SubGenius Hell).
Near the beginning of "The Story of the Stone" (a.k.a. "The Dream of the Red Chamber"), a Chinese classic from ~1750, two monks agree to meet again in a kalpa or two at a particular spot....
