The troops will be home by X-day

An interesting article about troop numbers needed "stabilize" Iraq. This war is like watching a car accident in slow motion.

"At this point, to be unaware of the requirement for additional troops while watching the burgeoning chaos in Iraq, requires a PhD in denial and a child-like, faith-based trust in the administration's PR rhetoric."

Lesson in Deceit, pt. 1

You'll note that this sudden rash of pessimism
about the war in Iraq all came out over a four
day period. With a little checking, you might
also note that the pessimism is coming from
*republican* sources.

I would strongly suggest that, as Admiral Akbar
would say, "It's a trap!"

I think I need the 3 year course on Deceit.

Well, let's start with these important concepts:

1) Trust no one.
2) Everyone can be bribed.
3) Everyone can be threatened.
4) Diplomacy is war by other means.
5) Occam's Razor is a tool of the lazy.
6) Sun Tzu taught the world how to plan.
7) Every plan 'A' should have a plan 'B'.
8) Every plan, 'C' and after, are deception plans.
9) Every plan has been compromised.
10) Never believe that anyone could be that stupid.
11) Begin timetables 200 years out, and plan backwards
from there.
12) Never reinforce defeat.
13) 50% is lost. 98% is useless.
14) You always miss one.
15) Disappoint the historians.
16) Everything can be used as a weapon.
17) The best spies are believed by the police to be
petty criminals of known habit.
18) Sex distracts the stupid.
19) Fatigue makes cowards of us all.
20) There is always someone better at it than you.

For homework, read Machiavelli's "The Prince". Don't
worry, it is very short. And you can skip the histories
if you read the chapter headings and the first few
paragraphs of each section, which are very concise.

wait a second.....is this some kind of trick?
Too much frop and not enough paying attention.
I have always intended to read The Prince. Just never got around to it.
Perhaps I should make an effort.

Well, the last guy I told to read The Prince was
this friendly, kind of naive sort. After he read
it, he got all squinty-eyed and treacherous and
it was a bitch to get my paperback copy back.

I think he's commanding a Legion of Doom somewhere
or something. Haven't seen him in years.

lol
can I borrow your lawn mower?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

From: "nu-monet v7.0" <nothing@succeeds.com>

You mean the "lawnmower of infinite destruction?"

It's in the shop, having its blade sharpened and
its eternity crystal re-aligned. Plus a new oil
filter.

I know what you're thinking: I *could* do the oil
filter myself, but I'm lazy.

lol
Actually I was thinking: Wow, I only have a push mower of finite
destruction. It runs on freedom fries and coffee. And the coffee filter I
change myself every 1/4 mile if it needs it or not.
