Will the universe go on expanding forever and become increasingly dark and
cold or...

is there enough dark matter to fuel a collapse and potential "rebirth" via
another Big Bang?

I figured this is a good a place as any to get a definitive answer.

Expanding, last time I checked.

Actually, the answer might be "neither".

First, use the axiom that time and space are essentially
the same thing: 'time/space'.

If space is expanding, then time is proportionally expanding,
slowing down the process so much that from our point of view,
space is *not* expanding.

If space is contracting, then time is proportionally
contracting, so from our point of view, space is *not*
contracting.

I don't give a 6-toed fuck either way, except that if I have to come back
for ANOTHER round of this crap,
the NEXT collapse will occur much sooner. I had enough about 25 years
back. I'll give that next Universe SUCH A PINCH......

I know a guy who theorizes that we might be in what he calls a "popcorn"
universe: The part of the universe that we can detect is currently expanding,
but other parts of the universe, beyond what we are able to detect, are either
expanding or contracting, depending on the sector being examined. As a whole,
the universe is static, but various parts expand or contract to accommodate
the expansion or contraction of other parts.

Or something.

My current deep-field Bobyon scans reveal that the universe is, in
fact, a hemorrhoid on the ass of an unamed Elder God.

The real question is whether or not out universe will continue to
expand to the point where it will require surgury or will topical
creme cause it to contract to non-existance.
