No, I think it is you that is missing the point.

1) Strip the love, lust and romance out of sex and
it is like going to the bathroom. Or like magnificant
artwork, strewn around the floor of a working greasy
spoon restaurant kitchen, just in the way and getting
broken and nasty.

2) You spend 99.9% of your life preparing for sex
or dealing with its consequences. Most people get
it too early and too easily, and they spend the
duration of their lives whining (to themselves)
about how they don't get enough of the right kind.

3) Once the kids come, your empire-building days
are over. The best you can do is tag along to
someone else's empire-building and brag about how
great it is to have kids.

4) What else do you do with an empire? Overeat?
Get drunk a lot? Why have tons of shiny shit at all
if you can't use it to seduce? If nothing better, it
provides a great excuse for being a seducer. Nothing
like ruling a kingdom to give you a stiffie.

5) You get to be Satan, tempting Jesus. (Personally,
I think Jesus should have put in a stipulation that
if Satan would give him the deal 1500 years hence, say
around the time of the Renaissance, now we're talkin'.
If I was offered to rule over a Kingdom of Hebes and
Itis, I would have told him to "go fish", too.)

6) Not only do you get to be the corrupter, your
corruptee gets to play innocent for a while, which can
be a rush. "Oh, Sire! Don't touch me there! No, a
little lower and to the left. Don't touch me *there*!"
