deltron 3030 was totally my favorite hip hop album of
the year. it was
produced by dan "the automator" nakamura,
well known for his work with kool
keith on dr. octagon: _dr. octagonacologyst_ and with
prince paul on
handsome boy modeling school: _so how's your girl_,
as well as with dj
shadow on _bombay the hard way_. his most recent work
was a collaboration
with members of blur, cibo matto & buena vista social
club on the album
_gorillaz_, which has yielded the hit single "clint
eastwood" (which also
features del tha funky homosapien aka deltron). he's
definitely my favorite
hip hop producer, and del is certainly one of the most
inventive hip hop
lyricists out there today, more bent on sci-fi and psychedelics
than 40s,
bitches & blunts. definitely good shit, and rather
inspiring. the album
follows the adventures of deltron, an intergalactic
rebel who travels the
universe in search of the ultimate mc battle. the album
also features a
cameo appearance by mc paul barman, a white jewish ivy
league graduate and
former moma employee from new jersey, whose critically
acclaimed ep _it's
very stimulating_ was produced by prince paul (formerly
of the gravediggaz
[along with rza of the wu-tang clan] & de la soul).
you'll find his album
rather entertaining as well, if you're into intellectual
rap. the man
rhymes in fibonacci sequence for god's sake.
