Go see this movie.
Why? Because it's HORRID, that's why.
Tonight, as part of the nationwide effort by movie theaters
to
raise money for "the cause", myself and a
friend went to see this
particular flick, knowing full well that our money would
NOT go
to the production company that brought us the religious
peice of
crapola but rather, our $8 (plus concessions) would
buy some
blankets and maybe some nice handy wipes for those who
can use
them.
But still - if you can GO SEE THIS MOVIE. But don't
pay to get
in. Sneak in - something. It's WRETCHED.
It starts out ok - with a nice evil little boy ala Damien
some
how becoming possesed by the "devil" - which
means of course, he
excels in military school, and eventually comes to power
under
the guise of some sort of "world chancelorship"
Whaddevah.
The movie is a huge Jack Chick comic brought to the
big screen.
The makers of the movie are there to hammer their dogma
home,
that's for sure. The acting is bad, the special effects
are
suprisingly good until it comes time for the unearthly
nasties -
then it makes Anaconda look like The Abyss. Eeech.
There are some really sweet looking and seemless CGI
scenes, but
sheeeeeit... "satan" loosk like he should
be on Saturday morning
TV.
Over all - the Xians in the audience were applauding
at the end
of the movie while my friend and I were *laughing*.
It really
does start out nicely but somewhere along the line it
takes a
nose dive - turning from what could have been a creepy
Omen-esque
thriller to an over the top religious A-Team episode.
No thanks.
But still -- *ya gotta see this movie*. If you can avoid
giving
it your moeny - do so. But there are few theaters in
the country
playing it simply because of its "middle east end
of the world"
content, which is silly.
The one bright point is Udo Kier. He's a good villan
any day.
