The Quiet Earth, Donnie Darko, Man Hunter

Well after Peter Harris jogged my memory of this film I got it on DVD
and enjoyed it.
The main plot device is this energy grid that is triggered one morning
to vapourise nearly everyone on the planet. The only ppl who survive
this are those who were in the process of dying at the time of the
grid's effect (but not of course those who were dying because of the
grid).
What made me chuckle was when, early in the film, the time, day and
month of the grid's triggering is given: 6:12am 5th July.
(I also watched Donnie Darko last night, which begins on the date Oct.
2, 1988.)
(I also watched most of Manhunter last night, but there were no
chrono-effects in that and I gave up after realising Red Dragon was
nearly a word-for-word copy of it.)

The Hannibal of Manhunter sucked. Anthony Hopkins was made for that
character.

Oh I dunno. He had a camp charm.
The soundtrack was terriable tho. It sounded like Vangelis and
Tangerine Dream's bastardo baby.
