Yes I saw that today. This really sucks. The worst part is that he
was feeling marginalised by the BBC, and was on a vacation to get away
from all those pink bastards.
A sign of the times folks.
On the other hand, Fyodor has a terrific radio show called "Under The
Floorboards", a "peel session" of sorts. It's totally fucking
excellent. It's on KGNU every other Saturday night each month.
http://www.kgnu.org/
KGNU has a lot of live, somtimes critical bands doing live shit all
the time on the KGNU Kabaret show.
Also, WREK, my home station, just so happens to be the greatest
fucking radio station on the planet earth.
All this shit is free on the internet. Go fetch it, or die a pink
death.

He MUST HAVE Sainthood, not least because he was the man who introduced
Captain Beefheart and the Mothers of Invention to the UK in 1967. He
used to drive Beefheart to his gigs for christ's sake. He played Trout
Mask Replica in its entirety on NATIONAL RADIO in 1970. Same for the
Ramones in 1976. He played the Velvet Underground in 1967 and they
recorded sessions for him. The Swans. Foetus. Man or Astroman. Pink
Floyd. Cocteau Twins. Hendrix. All first broadcast to British audiences
by John Peel. There are a million more.

Besides all that, he was the inspiration for
Jack Kirby's original sketches of Karnak of
the Inhumans., a.k.a. Citizen of Attilan; nee
"The Shatterer" of the Royal Family of Inhumans
who's body withstands bulnt fource trauma
because it is covered with a self-inflicted
mass of dense callus.
