Somebody was asking about when I'd be doing my thing at the Harvest
King pagan get-together next weekend. SATURDAY ONLY. They told me they
want me to do some kind of snide funny panel discussion thing with some
other snide dudes, in the afternoon, and my rant or whatever is
Saturday night.
They are going to the trouble of renting video projection stuff, so I'm
bringing the new Dobbsedeliasteses preaching-backdrop vids and
everything else. I'm also bringing some swag -- mostly DVDs and CDs and
the black Dobbshead shirts.
I figure on getting to the festival Friday evening and hanging out. I
probably won't sleep there but will drive back to Austin to stay with
Dr. G. Gordon Gordon or Col. Sphinx Drummond. But neither one of those
guys can go to the fest with me on Saturday! GGG is MOVING that very
day! A moving truck will be hauling the Gordonian furniture to their
NEW MANSION while I'm out gallavanting with topless Texas pagan hippie
chicks and their generous frop-sharing, swag-purchasing boyfriends. I
hope.
I'm not flying to Austin but to Dallas because I'm gonna be visiting my
family in the isolated no-man's land between cities before and after
the festival.
I am looking forward to this. Apparently they had 300 - 400 people last
year. It's a fellow's ranch near Bastrop, not a developed campground
like Brushwood, but they're working on it. It looks like quite a few of
the relatively new Austin area SubGenii are planning to attend and
meeting those folks should be enlighening or endarkening, depending.
I tried to see if there was a Dallas pagan community back in the early
90s, but all I was able to scare up were some paranoid occultists who
ran a bookstore in Grand Prairie and didn't want to talk to me. They
informed me that their holy Wiccan gatherings in some swampy grasslands
out in the boonies were not for unenlightened gawkers like they could
tell I must be.
Speaking of pagan gatherings it looks like I'll also be doing the next
Winterstar in Ohio in February.

How do I get to Harvest King?
Wife and I were just in Bastrop last weekend.
Bastrop State Park has these ultra-nifty little stone houses with
fireplaces built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps
(still a good idea).
They look like Hobbit houses. No way to score one on a weekend though
unless you sign up many months in advance.
Worth a drive over to the park to look at, though.
We plan to rent one when the weather gets cold enough to build a fire.
