George Carlin said Lenny Bruce died so we could all talk dirty. Peter
O'Toole once slugged it out with the police when they came to arrest
Lenny for one of his numerous drug-use/acquisition incidents. His mom
loved him. Years later, his bits are still a friggin' scream. Those
are 4 pretty darned good accolades.

The one thing that sucks about Lenny Bruce is that all of the people
who carried on his memory got so wrapped up in the political side of
it that they lost track of how really funny he really was. He cracks
-me- up, anyway, but well you know that might not be saying much.
I can always find Lenny Bruce CD's in the record store or Lenny Bruce
MP3's in the usual dens of iniquity but they are always all about the
trials. And some of those are funny (like his rendition of a cop
trying to deliver his (Lenny's) act in court) but they just aren't as
funny as the stuff he got in trouble for in the first place.
I listened to "Lima, Ohio" again yesterday, that is some funny shit.
I need to search on Amazon for a complete Lenny Bruce or something.
Fat Boy, that is a howl but harder to find because there's no politics
... Non-Skeddo airlines, another great one ... so on and so on.
Fuck making him a martyr. He's just FUNNY.

Why Lenny is a saint is that he stayed loaded on junk
alla time! He smoked roofers, and goofballs, and coke
and christmas trees! ALLA TIME! And he died loaded!
Which is prolly a whole lot better than most of us will go.
