Powerful Quake Rattles Southern Japan
1 hour, 5 minutes ago World - AP Asia
TOKYO - A powerful 7.0 Magnitude earthquake rattled
southern Japanese on Sunday, swaying buildings and
prompting warnings of tsunami. There were no immediate
reports of damage or injuries.
The magnitude 7 temblor, which hit off the coast
of Kyushu Island at 10:53 a.m. local time, was
centered at an "extremely shallow" depth below
the ocean floor, the Meteorological Agency said.
Japan's Meteorological Agency warned that
tsunamis could hit areas including the coast of Kyushu, NHK said.
The agency cautioned residents near the water to flee to higher ground.

Gamera is my hero. You begin to see the problem. BTW, if I had personal
control of Gamera, I'd have him drop a load of molten turtle shit on
Pilchard's house.

HAH! I laugh in the face of tsunamis! In all truth, my son, my
lovely wife and I were SAILING OVER THE EARTHQUAKE
EPICENTER on Sunday 10:53 am in the CHINJIF ferry
boat that runs between Shanghai and Osaka. Nary a ripple
on the surface but that afternoon we picked some staticcy
TV with the little tsunami warning zone around the islands
we just at that moment passing.... Wicked cool living out here.
Arrived this morning in Osaka now moving into the new home
of the SPLR Subgenius archives. Do come and call sometimes.
