My wife got me to watch The Straight Story last night,
the movie where
David Lynch does for Touching and Poignant what he did
for Creepy and
Horrible. Mainly drags it out and milks it for two
hours. But the
eponymous protagonist tells the old "bundle of
sticks" story where you
give your kids each a stick and tell them to break it
and they do and
then you take a bunch of sticks and tie them in a bundle
and tell them
to break that, and they can't and "that's 'Family'."
And I said, in
my family you take the biggest stick and beat on the
littlest one til
it breaks. And THAT'S "Family," as seen by
the littlest stick.
I also tried to watch that soppy Leelo and Stich movie
when it was on
and man was that a lot of mopey tripe. And they kept
saying "Family
means 'Nobody Gets Left Behind'." Well all I could
say was that in
the Nenslo family, "Family means 'Devil Take The
Hindmost', and 'I Got
Mine - To Hell With You'."

I'm sorry your parents were such horrible cretins, but
as your good jumor
constantly demonstrates it obviously all worked out
for the best in the long
run.
