I know that "Bob" is the one true saviour
and the only true road to
salvation. I'm not arguing with that. Don't get me
wrong.
But lately, I have been comparing the things he wrote
before, and the
things he wrote after, he got in the car accident when
he suffered all
that massive brain damage, and it begins to strike me
that there are
... well ... DIFFERENCES between the two. Not that
that's BAD. Don't
get me wrong. Just DIFFERENCES.
Like this:
"If the lady of the house invites you in for lemonade
during a sales
call, TAKE HER UP ON IT. Don't be shy. In doing so
you establish a
rapport with her, and heck, you get to spend time with
a pretty lady!"
- J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, "Secrets of sales", 1958
"ALEEENZ ARE COMING TO EAT MY SOUL! THEY EXOOD
OUT OF THE POWER
SOKKITS! WE MUST BUY! WE MUST SELL! REPENT NOW!"
- "Bob", scrawled in feces on a towel, 1963
"Remember my #1 rule of success: KNOW YOUR MARKET.
If he HAS a power
lawn mower, he doesn't NEED a power lawn mower!"
- J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, quoted by colleague, 1958
"I AM TAKEN TO A SPINNING! THE MOON WALKS THE
EARTH AND IS EVIL!
LIZARDS GRIN AT ME FROM EVERY CORNER! I AM THE TRUTH!"
- "Bob", early church seminar, 1965
I'm not saying that's BAD necessarily. I'm just saying.

I think I know what you mean. I'm just not trying hard
enough. Is it
"Bob"'s fault if I can't understand his mysteries?
I think he was just being SUPER-SUBTLE in his earlier
works. I need
to READ BETWEEN THE LINES.

The word of "Bob" is always true, in all times
and
all places. It is just by failure of faith that we
might misjudge his lies.

Man, that is so flawed. If the customer already HAS
a power lawn
mower, your job is to sell him a BIGGER power lawn mower!
If you only
sold people stuff they actually NEED, well brother,
you'd be one lousy
salesman.
I don't know who wrote that, but I'm sure it wasn't "Bob."

Well that was before he was "taken up" too.
