Whew! Things were going bad there for a while, but
I can finally say that
America is back on the right track.
In the wake of September 11, our chuckleheaded warmonger
president and his
stooges attacked Afghanistan and bombed the hell out
of it, killing
thousands of people including several dozen actual terrorists,
but not,
unfortunately, their alleged leader, Osama bin Laden.
Then, instead of
continuing to search for this crazed terrorist leader,
the Administration
decided to mosey on over to something they have always
wanted to do: attack
Iraq and get back at Saddam Hussein for supposedly humiliating
the current
"President"s father (even though it was the
senior Bush who LET Hussein go
free, for reasons nobody understood even back then).
So, after nearly a year of patiently waiting for the
government to do
something about the terrorists, whose passports show
them as SAUDI citizens,
not Afghanis, the People have decided to take matters
into their own hands,
getting Justice the American way. They're going to
sue.
Families of victims of the attack have banded together
to sue the Saudi
royal family and Saudi banks and charities that have
been funneling money to
the terrorists for decades. The "President"
and his "advisors" don't want
to touch Saudi Arabia because the Saudis have such a
big supply of oil, and
because we hope to have bases there from which to attack
the enemy that
looms largest in the Administration's addled minds --
"Sodom" Hussein.
Ok, fine, say the American People, we never paid much
attention to the
President or Congress anyway -- we're turning to the
branch of government
that we deal with every day, the one we KNOW has the
REAL power -- the
Judiciary!! You may be the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia,
but you better get
youself a DAYUM good lawyer boy, cause we got the tobacco
lawyer on our
side, and a guy who successfully sued Libya for crashing
one of our
planes!!! Yeeeehaw, let the Justice begin!

Me be smelling interesting fish with this one. For
if they can get *any* kind of judgement against a
Saudi corporation, of course they wouldn't be able
to collect a dime. However--they *might* be able to
sue US corporations that do business with the Saudi
corporations--chief of which is Halliburton!
You see, it avails not to sue Halliburton directly,
as they could create so many catch-22 hoops that you
could not even get standing in court, much less a hope
for litigation. But if you have a judgement already
in place with a business partner of Halliburton, you
have an "in" into litigation, and maybe even
RICO
triple damages, against Halliburton and others.

I suspect the court case will probably last ten to fifteen
years,
unless some kind of a settlement is reached.
