This clipped from a news article sent me by Saint Kenneth
Huey. No, I
did not save the proper attribution, sue me:
"During his tenure as Governor, Bush presided
over a record-setting
152 executions, including the 1998 execution of fellow
born-again
Christian Karla Faye Tucker, a convicted murderer who
later led a
prison ministry. Forty of Bush's executions were carried
out in 2000,
the year the Bush presidential campaign was spotlighting
their
candidate's strong law enforcement record. The Washington
Post's
Richard Cohen reported in October 2000 that one of the
execution
chamber's "tie-down team" members, Fred Allen,
had to prepare so many
people for lethal injections during 2000, he quit his
job in disgust.
Bush mocked Tucker's appeal for clemency. In an interview
with Talk
magazine, Bush imitated Tucker's appeal for him to spare
her life -
pursing his lips, squinting his eyes, and in a squeaky
voice saying,
"Please don't kill me." That went too far
for former GOP presidential
candidate Gary Bauer, himself an evangelical Christian.
"I think it is
nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a
major state
running for president thought it was acceptable to mock
a woman he
decided to put to death," said Bauer."

I think the bottom line here is "democracy."
Basically, if 12 slightly-randomly chosen people
with high school educations vote that you should
be killed, then you are. The very *essense* of
democracy. Why is it objectionable?
Now compare that with the "so ordinary that nobody
even notices much anymore, much less has great and
abiding moralistic objections to" murdering:
Corporations that *knowingly* pollute with stuff
that *will* kill hundreds of people. Invisible,
odorless, colorless, tasteless chemicals that
*will* kill, and can't be easily avoided. $500
fine for each 1000 people killed.
Doctors and pharmaceutical companies that perform
unneccessary surgery in places filthy with infectious
diseases; or in the case of the latter, promoting
ineffective drugs, keeping effective drugs off
the market, and price gouging.
So what's the dif? Does "justice" really
exist in
the first place? White and pretty means you get
anally raped for life, black and ugly means you get
to die quick.
Since Xtianity is so opposed to culling of the sick,
lame and PWT, have we just adjusted so that we won't
be overrun by the Kid Rock/Pamela Anderson/Whoopi
Goldberg/Dennis Rodman offspring?
Love will find a way. Everybody dies. Every 100
years, all new people.
Join my schism.

This crap has been linked to Bush for years and denounced
near totally. Bush
had little to do with this, its all written and signed
into law by DEMOCRATS
before him. He had little to do with executions, even
a review board has to
deal with it before it ever hits his desk. He had no
power to commute any
sentence before review. The Christian executed said
he beloved that justice
should be served. This lie has been sourced back to
DEMOCRATS who keep
repeating it and repeating it.
It must be nearing political season again.

Where is your tasteless sense?
I swell with pride every time George II's having presided
over so many
executions is brought up. He truly is Mr. Whupass personified.

Oh sure, EVERYTHING should be run through www.snopes.com
before
posting, as a rule. It COULD be distorted, anecdotal
Bush-slamming, as
can anything said about a pol. I just believe the little
shite thinks
this way and has a heart the size of the Grinch's, so
its entirely
plausible. That's the problem with being a creep: once
you've started
down that path, you take on Biblical proportions at
the barber shop
and become the new Attila. Besides, I just wanted to
stir you up. That
IS half the purpose of Usenet, right? Don't blame me,
I voted for
Popeye.
