(The US is pissed that the South Korean government
wants to play kissy-face with the North, while at
the same time keeping the US forces in between to
get slaughtered if the North double-crosses them.
So we are now offering to move our forces south of
Seoul, and the S.K. government is giving off a
collective shriek. "You can't dooo that!")

Sounds more like Rummy is afraid if he backs off from his "we can
fight two wars" bluster he'll lose face, and has thought up another
clunky quick fix.

On the contrary, I'm not as optimistic as you.
I think that the SKs are right when they think
that the US pullback is a prelude to a US attack.
(N.B. we just held a discreet but huge exercise
with the ROKs, another reason for the North to be
highly agitated.)

I also think that the K War part II is already
scheduled, and the majority of strategic planners
are already way beyond Iraq and are planning K2.

Remember that already we have more strategic
bombers in place in Guam then we do for Iraq, sent
forward to both prevent the NKs from jumping the
gun, and to be able to swat them quick when the
time comes.

Here's the zinger: where are those 747 based
anti-missile laser aircraft? Because if we make
a full-fledged attack on NK, their only response
worth notice will be to pitch missiles. And those
air lasers are a *lot* better shooting down
something on the way up then on the way down, just
simple ballistics.

And once we shake the shit out of their "2 million
man" (mostly infantry) army with iron bombs, it'll
only take about one division of ROKs to take the
whole place. At that point, the $64 question
becomes: What Will China Do?

If China lets us K2 without interference, then we
move on to WWIII, part 3, whatever that is.

Yes, they are plannomg on pulling the US Troops to the South toward Puson. Away
from the "kill zone" that everything 30 miles south of the DMZ will be.

Yes, but theyare all B-52's. With out a fighter escort, even NK's 40 year old
Migs will have a field day shooting them down. As for "swatting" them, we know
know that the body count in Afghanistan was way lower then first thought. The
Mountains gave the Taliban, Al Quida, Ore Ida's, and Tally wackers decent cover
form the bombs. Only a direct hit would cause casualties. The Korean Terrian is
Pretty much the same

Still a mastibation fantasy fro Rummy. They were talking about this project
from at least 1977. It sounds "cool", but lasers are light. And light is
difussed and bend by the atmoshereic refraction. Also they cannot penitrate
clouds or smoke or dust.

To hell with missle. The NK army has more artillary tubes with 10 miles of the
DMZ then the 8th Army, ROK Army and Japan have combined.

In one hour they can lob enough 122mm artty rounds to basicly flatten Souel!
And thats not including any Chemical or nuclear rounds they might have.

The WHole Korean Pennensular is nothing but high Mountains and deep valleys. It
is Infantry country. tank and mechinized weapons are only of limited value. I
served in a ARNG Signal Brigade Assigend to Korea. I have been there, I have
seen the Classified Breifs on the NK army. Any war in that area will be ugly.

I have also seen the reports of the various war games they run on a regular
basis. Each runs a differnat "what if?" In each one at the end of the war,
there is not much left in South Korea to defend. But the good news in almost
all Scenarious the "good guys" win.

China's current policy is to restablish the "old china" of before the WWII era.

That includes Formosa and Both Koreas. Until occupied by Japan in the 1920's,
Korea was a chinese provence.

For all pratical purposes, the Koreans are Chinese. The "Korean" language is
really just a regional dialiect of Chinese. Their culture is based on Chinese
Culture. China will not want the US claiming what is "theirs"

You can talk about how many people our weapons can kill in an hour all yuo
want. But war is a human event, humans plan and conduct it. And like all human
events it is at the mercy of Human Nature. The Germans prior to WWII developed
many of the war games used by the military (and war gamers) today. They all put
the "human" element intot he game by having each side roll a dice to simulate
"fate".

There have been many examples of smaller armies defeating larger, supieor ones.
It all comes down to the Human factor.

Sure Iraqi's want ot be rid of Saddam. But when a M-1 Tank rolls into town,
that guy is going to defend his home & his family against the "invader"

I guessing on the unexpected scenario. I would
hazard to guess that virtually all the *practiced*
scenarios were "defensive", like they were in the
ETO in my time.

But picture if you will a massive, aggressive,
blitzkrieg-type attack. Prolly initiated with a
huge volley of submarine launched cruise missiles
to take out airfields and major anti-aircraft with
a huge overflight of bombers coming hot on the heels
to blow the ever-lovin' out of the NKA before they
can do squat.

A few other twists: those deep underground penetrating
nukes--not in Iraq, but in NK, to take out their huge
bunkers filled with soldiers. Sure, the place might
be filled with caves, but sat intel should know where
the really big caves are. Especially the Command
Bunker where Kim and friends will be hiding. And
don't underestimate the 747 lasers. They don't just
have to shoot down missiles.

Last but not least, no ground invasion force. Just
wipe out as much of their military as possible, then
say to the SKs, "Okay, it's yours if you want it.
Just march in there and take it." The NKs never even
see a white face. Maybe that's our deal with Ch'in:
no white faces anywhere on the peninsula.

Instead of thinking US strategy, think Wehrmacht.
Sneak attack, overwhelming force.

Funny! When Rummy became Sec of Def., he wanted to drop the "two war Scenario"!

Now he is bragging about it and letting everyone it was his idea!

I have been thinking that no matter what happens, Bush has a plan to try & come
out clean. If Everything goes as planned, he takes credit. If the body bags
start coming home by the thousands, he can claim it was all Clinton's fualt!
Hell, the paper is printing letters from people from all over Delaware.
maryland, Pennsylvania & Virginia telling everyone that EVERYTHING, 9/11,
Enron, Accountanting scandels, deficit, and Saddam being in power is Clinton
fault! I mean this local rag we have is full of them. Like the
neo-conservatives are flooding all the papers with letters to try & pin Saddam,
Bin Laden, etc. to Clinton!

Well, what if the "Evil Doers" just case the missiles in ceramics? Like the
Heat Tiles on the Shuttle, they can absorb heat. Laser becomes a big Rock Show
Special Effect in the Air.

just attract NHGH's attention. Heck, I've probably said too much

Shit, you became a cult leader, what, 22+ years ago? I think you
passed "said too much" about the third time you had to burn a pair of
shoes because some Bobbie puked on 'em. What was that, about 1980?
Yeah, your "said too much" card had all its holes double-punched WAY
