Final Cut Pro -- just like riding a bicycle.
I had been half dreading the job of starting to transfer
and edit my
videotapes from 5X-Day. The last time I used the video
editing program,
Final Cut Pro, I had been learning it on-the-job, and
the steepness of
the learning curve was all I could remember. Until I
actually got
started. Then it all came back to me. Once you know
the prog, it's
EASY! KID STUFF! So, next thing I knew I had trimmed
down the first two
1-hour reels of digital video to about 20 minutes of
something
viewable. Then I ran out of hard drive space. So I moved
Dobbsfilm
Shorties to another drive to make room. AHHHHHHH. VIDEO
CUTTING AGAIN.
AHHHHHHHHH. Feels like... normality. In a strange way.
if you're me.
But meanwhile I transfered tons of audio over from my
OTHER video
camera, the Handy Cam 8mm, which was badly injured at
Burning Man and
is now good mainly for location audio recording.
So far I have not touched the SuperHero Ball Contest
or the Flesh
Auction. But I got all the rants from Thursday and Friday
nights down!
Well, there's still apparently another HOUR of Thursday
night that I
wasn't there for and which is a complete mystery yet.
Rev. Volkerding recorded the ESO jam at Tranquility
Base on Friday, and
I have mp3s of that now too.
I'm gonna use this material on Hour of Slack -- which
I'm now late on
again -- but first I was thinking to turn these into
MP3s, for a CD
that could be put on Prostata's server.
I COULD ALSO POST THEM TO ALT.BINARIES.SLACK... this
is a HUGE stash,
though... it'll freak the geeks that can't handle massive
binaries on
newsgroups and would rather see only JPEG art.
But hmmm. I might just say Fuck It and post them anyway,
next time I
feel like letting my line be occupied doing that for
a few hours or
DAYS.

I suppose I could just wait and see if I end up with
a better recording
of them doing the same material at Starwood -- which
has a budget for
that sort of thing.)

THAT REMINDS ME: Rev. Volkerding, I wish to thank you
publicly in this
admittedly tiny forum for recording that OTE show those
nights and for
sending me 6 CDs so I could make my Ride Theory CD out
of it. You
ShorDurPerSaved my bacon.
Volkerding for Attaman!
The rest of you: GET BACK TO WORK!

There's a guy that records all the Over the Edge shows,
AND the
Puzzling Evidence SubShow that follows it, and puts
them on the web as
mono MP3s for download. They sound clear enough that
I've used clips on
my show.
