Dkr. Geddyn started the list because alt.slack is way too spammy, crammed full of hit-and-run trolls, and he pretty much hates everything about USEnet anymore.

Here's the deal:

We've found that, despite being a collection of freaks, weirdos, loudmouths, and general ne'er-do-wells, SubGenius all too often tend to join mailing lists, and JUST SIT THERE and expect to entertained, like they're WATCHING TV. Amazing, I know, but sadly true.

Not here! As we learned most painfully on July 5, 1998, we have to BUILD OUR OWN GODDAM SPACESHIP, and this list is no exception. It's up to YOU to entertain US. You can start by posting an intro to subgenius@yahoogroups.com -- your likes and HATES, your turn-ons and tragic flaws, and most importantly, how "Bob" first appeared in your wife. Err, life.

It's all kind of like an AA meeting for Slack junkies.

The rules of conduct (yes, RULES, you ungrateful anarchists) are simple and obvious, designed to keep our CONTENT FRESH AND EXCITING. Subgenius@yahoogroups.com will NOT be yet another dump site for unfunny forwards, old jokes, and tired URLs. The day that happens is the day the moderators commit the Internet seppuko, and this list will be GONE FOREVER.
