Allegations of police brutality have been raised in
Australia after an officer struck a cowering motorist
with a metre-long fence stake...

...But police insisted there was "no problem" with the
use of the one-metre long roadway fencing. Queensland
Police Union president Gary Wilkinson told Sky News
the man was lucky not to have been shot by officers,
who are armed as a matter of course.

He said the man, Scott Andrew Paul, 32 - since charged
with assaulting police, theft and dangerous driving -
"had a knife and was trying to provoke police to kill
him as part of a 'suicide' wish. Pepper spray had
failed to subdue him."

"The man was very lucky he wasn't shot - I cannot see
the problem," Mr Wilkinson said...
