This is ridiculous:
Am I the only person that sees a dangerous trend in
the U.S?
The dismantling of the bill of rights by the government.
The way that
people react
When some one dares to disagree with the way the government
is doing, by
labeling the dissident as unpatriotic and make it justified
to harass the
person and physicality threaten them. It is getting
to the point where
people are afraid to express them selves for fear of
being labeled
un-American or a supporter of terrorism. The saddest
thing of all is the
lose of the of the ability of people to use irony and
sarcasm to help cope
with bad times, with out getting yelled at by some over
sensitive bung hole
Yelling about it not being P.C.

On the plus side, it seems that nobody but a pathetic
crew of neo-fascists wants to play. Even the rank
& file FBI agents are resisting and openly objecting
to the idea that they spy on churches, synagogues,
mosques and civil rights groups--selected because they
are black or jewish or moslem for shit duty, spying
on
their friends and neighbors.
And have you been personally chastised for "unpatriotic"
shit? Except for a few well-publicized examples, it
seems that the average Joe isn't in the lynch-mob
mood, despite what Lynne Cheney wants with her
"blacklist." Try it out in a safe public
place: have
a loud conversation and call Dubyah a "fascist"
who
is "burning the bill of rights like toilet paper",
and see if *anyone* even sneers at you. They might
not agree yet, but they have their doubts, enough so
they won't feel like shooting their mouth off.
The trouble with what they're doing is that you don't
rattle the bars of the cage very long without the
lions getting pissed off. Though perhaps sharks are
a better example. If congress stands up to them and
gets away with it even once, there will be blood in
the water and Dubyah will leave office to greater
obscurity than Jimmy Carter, if not prison.

You're not alone, Xenu - I've seen this type of shit
before (VietNam era, when
the National Guard shot and killed university students
for daring to criticize
gov't policy), and will probably live to see it again
(hopefully, outside of a
government 'Rehabilitation Facility')
What nu-monet said rings true, but it's cold comfort
- perhaps the best we can
do in dis ya time. Keep On Rockin' in the Free World
- it's the only way to
keep the Talibandits from taking over from the top down.
And look for new
metaphors - the old farts are immune to being called
fascists or nazis, because
they think they fought those forces down years ago,
when in actuality, those
forces merely switched sides when their earthly minions
lost the battle. It's
all the CON, ya see? It's the ClampSpiracy, the ingrown
fart. It's out to get
us all, to steal our slack, to make us slaves to cheepniss,
bargain breathing,
remote control numbsex.

OK, as someone who thinks this war is a really great
thing, even if
it is because a lot of religious nuts are being blown
to bits (always
a good thing) and for blatant revenge reasons, allow
me to interject
here (and incur the wrath of the anti-war crowd which
is as thick as
thieves in alt.slack) by saying that when I hear someone
talking about
how "we deserved it, it's our foreign policy, their
actions are
justified by their anger" and all that other hogwash,
I just ignore
them, and not because I "have my doubts."
They're in a small, annoying
minority. They make a lot of noise, because they feel
very strongly
that they're right, but a very small minority just the
same. It's not
like they're loudly discussing what battleship they
were riveting on
that day in the Brooklyn Navy Yard or anything. They're
just
exercising their American right to be wrong. Isn't that
what our
friends in the military are fighting for, and what the
Taliban and
al-Quaeda oppose? Only an idiot would silence political
expression, it
only justifies secret conspiracies. On the other hand,
talking about
how we got exactly what our "American arrogance"
merited and saying
"cops are pigs, not heroes" five feet down
the bar from someone crying
in their beer over a vaporized cop friend (after repeated,
friendly
warnings from the bartender to change the subject),
is worthy of an
ass-kicking (and it resulted in one, and I'm glad it
did). So maybe,
just maybe, it's not because "everyone knows you're
right" that you
are not harassed; maybe it's because America is still
a very free
country (in relative terms), and they know what your
rights are (hey,
we're having this discussion, right? Has your door been
beaten down
yet?). And maybe if anyone does get mad at you, it's
not because
they're a fascist, but simply because you are behaving
in an
insensitive manner. Ultra-left government-haters are
like any other
zealot; they tend to get knee-jerk after a while. They
also tend to
paint their adversaries with a very wide brush. When
I asked a friend
why she opposed the war, she said, "Because I'm
opposed to killing
babies!" As if any position FOR the war revealed
a taste for
infanticide, as if there were no other relevant issues.
Black-and-white thinking is not exclusive to the far
right.
On the issue of military tribunals, do I have it wrong,
or did the
legislation not even create any military tribunals,
but simply give
the President that option? And would YOU want to be
on the jury of a
suspected Muslim terrorist? I wouldn't, since the defense
counsel
(probably a Muslim) would reveal your identity to the
world, putting a
bullseye on your head. I certainly am glad those losers
have decided
to fight to the death. Makes the whole nasty issue moot,
no?
On the issue of people "disappearing," what
a laugh! If the IRA
exported their terrorism to America, do you not think
they would be
questioning Irish-Americans? Not to mention arresting
the thousands of
illegal Irish in the Bronx and Queens on immigration
violations as an
easy way to get them where they can be questioned and
checked out.
Would anyone see this as violations of those Irishpersons'
civil
rights? Of course not, and well they shouldn't. Would
you stow away on
a ship and then demand a cabin when caught? The edifice
of civil
rights is built upon the foundation of public safety.
How will you
hold your protests (of ANYTHING) if no one will come
for fear of
contracting a disease or being blown up?
To sum up, Islam bad, SubG good, censorship bad, war
good, freedom
good, being annoying bad.

Well, I don't think that this war is a really great
thing. And NOT because I am a "peacenik",
but because
THIS IS FUCKING AFGHANISTAN! JEEZUS FUCKING XHRIST!
Have you ever read any of the 'Flashman' books? Oh,
dear lord, it is the asshole of the earth at war
ALMOST CONTINUALLY FOR 3000 FUCKING YEARS!
What's the expression about sticking your dick in a
fire? Help! Unless we get the HELL out of that
country before winter sets in, oh shit!

My point. As will most Americans. Lynne Cheney prolly
thought that you would want to don the brown and black
uniforms and storm the ghettos, and it ain't happening
and Lynne and company are terribly, terribly confused.

Isn't that an oxymoron? Government haters are radical
Adam Smithites. It's the left and right pro-government
radicals that cause the problems--they want *more*
government. The minimum government believers specifically
want a government concerned with foreign and domestic
security, and that is all.
Unless you mean "America haters", which are
a different
group altogether.

But what, in her dumb way, if she was right? If it
*was* the Machiavellian intention of our government
to
exterminate millions of people throughout the "-istans"
to "clear" them from the massive oilfield
and pipeline
lands? If someone comes up with a reasonable explanation,
fine, but if the *real* explanation is unconscionable,
why delude ourselves?

Construction is underway of "secret" facilities
on Guam.
Conjecture is that this is where the tribunals would
be
held.
> And would YOU want to be on the jury of a suspected

No.
And neither do military officers. The JAG has spent
three war and countless hours trying to rectify the
UCMJ. It's primary goal is still not "justice",
but
"the maintenance of good military order and discipline",
two very different things. But they still pride
themselves in giving the people before them not just
a
fair shake, but a *fairer* trial than you would get
in
a civilian court! The very idea of some kind of
"kangaroo court" makes them cringe. And if
some higher
up tried to "force" a guilty vote, they would
resign
or refuse.

60 Israeli Jews are among the internees. Why? And
why
did the US government shut down a New York based Internet
radio statio that featured interviews with IRA spokesmen?
(Along with "Grandpa Munster" Al Lewis's Internet
radio!?!)
Is all this power-grabbing necessary, meaningful, or
is it
just some impotent Jesus-cops effort to give himself
a
stiffie with "strength through purity of essense"?
Is
Nietzsche good for anything but 'Conan' movies?
