The sad thing, nowadays it's "cool" to know about these various deadly
real sub-Conspiracies, and then just leave it at that -- knowing about
'em. Or THINKING you know about 'em, as the case may be. The whole
thing scares the fuck out of me... suddenly there's gonna be a "long
war" where we give up our liberties for Freedom's sake, as The Onion
put it, and in many circles it's downright "traitorous" to question the
government's motives... or the media's for that matter.

I was discussing this with my pal in the San Francisco Mime Troupe,
which is VERY activist, shall we say, in the old timey power to the
people manner. They're doing a satirical revue about genetic
engineering profits vs. dangers currently because their MAIN show,
"1600 Transylvania Avenue," is highly critical of the Bush
administration and the way it helped give corporations the same rights
as individuals -- but corporations are IMMORTAL, hence the vampire
parallel. That's how Ed explained it to me, anyhow. Well, there's NO
WAY they can do that show now, and expect to get to the end of it. It
was written long before Sept. 11, has nothing to do with terrorism, but
badmouthing the Chief of the Armed Forces is considered WAY too bad
form. For now. Maybe things will loosen; maybe it'll get worse.

Chas, Dave and I find ourselves being VERY CAREFUL how we couch things.
We badmouth the Pres and question the basics and wonder aloud about the
pipeline, but even Dave is scared to "go directly there" on certain
subjects. Meanwhile, I personally SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, and want to see
terrorist fanatics CAUGHT AND/OR MANGLED. But due to the
all-or-nothing, only black-and-white, no-dimensional spin on everything
these days, expressing support for any soldiers is force-equated with
being a crazed flag wearing President-trusting tool of the MACHINE.

And unquestionably, the MACHINE is the only thing with any chance of
coming out ahead, on this one. Unless you can somehow stay above or
below the radar, pull out, withdraw from the Matrix, get off the Net...
quit your job... AIIIEEEE!!! I'm scared as hell about whether I can
even KEEP my job! DAMN!! And I work for "BOB"!

This FUTURE thing... it seems like it's UP FOR GRABS at this point,
doesn't it? And there sure are lots of folks ready to fight over it.
And I guess we SubGenii are too, in our own various ways. Nuke
globally, hoard locally, is that it?

You have a job from "BoB"? Most of my friends quit their jobs five
months ago because you told them it would be best to work for "HiM" too.
You'll find them plotting for the freedom of the people at Coffee
Messiah H.Q. ;)
