I've been a Sub now for a couple of years and started to backslide a couple
months ago, then when the site started running pictures of the September 11th
disaster, I found some of them in very poor taste. I was pissed, enraged (did I
mentioned pissed?). I was ready to denounce, nay, DID denounce my membership in
the church, but then something struck, an epiphany of sorts. I remember a line
in the book of the Subgenius that said something about most Subs can't stand to
be around one another, which in my case is true. However, I have met a couple
excellent Subs. My boss is one, which I can say makes for a great work
environment, which I never thought was possible. So, although I condemn some of
the pictures on the site, I cannot deny the fact that I agree with the basic
philosophy of the church. Therefore, I've made things right with "BOB", and
respect your constitutional rights as Americans to display such pictures, but
make no mistake about it, you who post such pictures do a huge disservice to a
country who protects your right to do so. If you don't agree with the war, then
poke fun at that, but there really isn't a reason to make light of the World
Trade Center disaster. Think of the people who lost their lives, and also think
of their familes, before you think about how you can get a rise out of the
normals. If a clandestine society such as The Church of the Subgenius promotes
any type of brotherhood, then please listen to one of the pleas of your
brethren. I'm not doing this as an act of condemnation, so I don't need a bunch
of replies trying to prove me wrong. Believe me, I hate the Pinks as much as
anysub, but I do not celebrate the death of any innocents. With that being
said, I still believe the doctrine, but until such pictures and postings stop I
will be a MIGHTY Clench of one.

Your anger might be misdirected. What brought about
the artwork of dubious taste was not the event itself,
or the people who were killed; it was how the media
glorified and magnified the event, pouring over every
detail, just like they did covering the OJ trial or
the Super Bowl.

And on top of it, the calculated and cynical use of
the event by forces in the government to subvert the
constitution by railroading a single, unread "Patriot"
Act through congress, then otherwise nullifying the
Bill of Rights through presidential executive orders.
AN ACT AND ORDERS, I MIGHT ADD, THAT APPLY TO EVERYONE,
NOT JUST "TERRORISTS".

Well, it is war, isn't it, so shouldn't we be willing
to give up...? goes the argument. BULLSHIT. The men
who did these things, this abrogation of liberty, are
tyrants. They are indifferent to the lives lost.
They see only an opportunity to grab power and set up
an authoritarian regime.

And the greatest irony of all is that they are so
amoral that if this event had not been engineered by
outsiders, they would be tempted to do it themselves,
just to achieve the same result. And the question
still remains, on the periphery, "Did our leaders in
Washington either permit this massacre to happen, or
did they *make* it happen? Did they intend to do this?"

As a final argument, would you be so angry and offended
at the alt.binaries.slack artists if they are eventually
arrested for their artwork, after it is labeled
"sympathetic to terrorists", which is now a crime?

That is a very good point. The answer is that I would be pissed as hell if
that were to happen. However, I wasn't trashing all the pictures on the site,
but some of them were in very poor taste. Also thank you for taking the time to
actually reply with some well thought out points. They definately made me see
another side of the coin. Your a good person as far as I'm concerned.

You can denounce anything you like, you have the right to hate anyone or
anything at any given moment in time. You paid your thirty bux, right? Then
denounce anything you feel like denouncing. Just remember, what you denounce
today may save you tomorrow. There are rivals within the church, within the
church, within the church, uh, I said that already I think. Anywaze, Being
Sub "G" aint about membership or what makes you happy. Oh wait a second. You
said you DID denounce it didn't you. I'm sorry, your membership is now null
and void. Bob aint like Jesus you know. So you lost your seat on the saucer
and and you gave up the right to exercise your right to the "triple your
money" back clause. So now you need to send in another thirty bux just so
you can insure your eternal salvation. By then it won't be triple your money
back, but at least you'll get half of it back. Carefull what you say, it may
actually happen. But once your paid up again, yeah, that's kewl, your
offended. Hey man, something will always offend somebody whether they are
SubG or not. Fine, personally, I'm riding this 30 dollar train for as long
as possible. I have said a lot about 91101 in my own posts to this site and
I have my own personal feelings about the whole damned mess, but in the end,
I have but one life to do with as I please, as do you, as does anyone else
and everyone else, don't let the follies of others get to you, they are just
children in a big open playground. Poor taste or not, we all have our
differences. I personally hate to hear about anyone denouncing the church, I
damn near attacked 2Beans when he burnt his membership card in front of us
all. Until I began to understand his message in doing so. I could never do
that, at least not today, or right now. But in my heart I knew he'd cough up
another 30 bux, because it's not the card or the burning of the card that
makes you a subg or not, it's you and how you live, and breath, and see, and
believe and how much you are willing to pull the wool over your own eyes. It
may not even be any of those things. Shit, I may not even have a clue as to
what I'm saying here. I could be totally wrong and some of what I say may
offend you. Well that may be true but the point is that I am saying it. That
I am saying it to you, right here, in a public forum. For no other reason
then to try and give you many more perceptions to the very same thing that
has thousands of families wrecked, both emotionally and financially, forever
chaged because someone thought it a good idea to slam airplanes into
buildings.

I have to be very careful as to what I say here because it could be misread
and used against me in military court. What I am about to say goes for every
human being on the planet, NOT JUST TERRORIST. There is absolutely nothing
wrong with what they have done. They are not evil doers. They are not even
evil. No one is. Evil is a word invented by the pinks to justify certain
behaviour. To keep people in line. To place order where there would
"normally" be chaos. I don't believe that chaos replaces order. I believe
that as much as chaos seems to exist, it is a chaotic order that we all
should live by. Natural selection through slack.

Sure, as a human, I hate what they have done, how it has affected everyone,
everywhere. But my hate goes beyond them. I hate what made them do it more.
Think what you want, did our presence in Saudi Arabia make Bin Laden hate us
so much that this was the ultimate revenge? I dunno but if so, then I hate
what put us in Saudi Arabia. The gulf war? then I hate the gulf war. Saddam
Husain invading kuwait, then I hate what ever made him do that, I hate what
ever makes us hate. I hate the forces that drive people to kill and hurt and
cheat and steal and lie... I hate it all.

See, in my world, where I come from, there is none of this. There are those
who enjoy working, enough of them that those who don't want to work don't
have to. There are people that enjoy providing for others as well as those
who enjoy being provided for. It's a perfect balance. There is no greed or
stealing because if there is something that someone wants, there is someone
who wants to give it to them. Even the so called evil things, there are
people in my world who enjoy raping people, but the people they rape enjoy
being raped. The people that the killers kill, enjoy being killed.
And the people that enjoy hating end up hating things and people that enjoy
being hated. (If you've already re-read this paragraph by replace the word
"enjoy" with the words "find slack in" then please skip over the next
sentence oryou'll be trapped forever) To understand this more, re-read this
paragraph and replace the word "enjoy" with the words "find slack in". It's
a perfect balance of slack and pretty much anything goes. If your someplace
in my world that you don't like, there is someone ready willing and able to
bring you to the places you would enjoy. It's that simple.

My biggest problem is that this world is not my world and that it is very
hard to find my place in it.

That is how I ended up here.

I have already stated that no matter what, I am a SubG until the end. My
renounciation was more of the ceremonial type, only to state that I, belonging
to a group such as the Subgenii ( which has a low bullshit tolerance) don't
have to take what others say lying down. It is just a matter of what has
happened, no matter what it's root might be, has rocked the world that I have
come to be accustomed to. I think that it has been a rude awakening to many. I
also understand that a dark sense of humor is essential to get some people
through some things, but if someone finds those same things in bad taste then
it is their right to also voice thier opinions. Although, I do agree, that this
seems harder to do lately, with the Bill of Rights being swept from under our
feet. More or less, I don't know what is appropriate any more. I just wanted
to make sure that the artists were doing this for reasons other than shock
value, which I always seemed to find among postings in this newsgroup. Rest
assured, that I now know that there were those other reasons for which I
searched. I did not post a message in hopes of looking to condemn people, but
rather to know that all is as well as can be expected, at any given time among
the brethren. So, I will not take the time to argue, but rather to thank those
who haven also taken the time to reply in a way to help me understand the other
side I wasn't seeing. As for my "so-called" ejection from the Church, I'm not
worried. I payed up, and have recently taken the time to get right with "BOB"
again. So, I would like to use up the rest of this space to thank you, as well
as NuMonet for showing me a side I once refused to see. In my eyes this is what
a secret society is all about. Thank you brother. Keep up the good work, as
well as the unswerving opionation, because it just may help someone (as it did
tonight) to think in a different light.

I agree. It's like telling a child molester, or a rape joke in mixed company.
It doesn't go over well, but the fact of the matter is that no matter what,
shit like that exists, it's just a matter of being willing to except it or
ingoring it. I can't stress enough the appreciation I have for my brothers and
sisters in "BOB" to help me understand where they are coming from. Thanks
