July 5, 1999: 9:30 AM. I get to the Contintental Airlines ticket
counter at the Erie airport only to find out my flight back home--with
transfers to Cleveland and Houston (!)--had been overbooked. Was I
interested in a rescheduled flight on Northwest Airlines and a travel
voucher? Well, the voucher was worth $250, which will be a large chunk
of next year's XXX-Day ticket, so I gave a tentative "yes." They began
checking with Northwest and found a different flight--from Erie to
Seattle with a brief layover in Detroit. The new flight cut a transfer
out and got me home three hours ahead. And, the departure from Erie was
only five minutes later than previous. I was praising "Bob" all the way
home--sure, he might've not brought the Xists, but he did bring me a
big fat wedge of high-flying slack this XX-Day.

Hopefully that made up for leaving some of your stuff behind. I was
worried about dropping you at the airport after watching you repeatedly
nod off in the truck on the way, much the same as I did on the way home!
