sounds like a description of true-believer syndrome.
So you got these white guys running around in
London Fog raincoats with secret decoder rings
and Chester Gould 2-Way Wrist Radios drinking
ginintonix and taking surreptitious voyeur shots
up Moneypenny's miniskirt with their vintage Minox
and training pidgeons to shit mini microphones,
figuring out how to fit a camera up a squirrel's
ass (let's face it, that would be a great job to
have -- you would not believe the job security
there is in converting tiger droppings to
wireless broadband transmitters). And these
guys want to keep all their gee-whizbang gizmos
and associated budgets because, let's face it,
they're accoustomed to a certain standard of
living. When James Bond needs a car to escape
in, her gets the fuckin' high-end BMW or Maybach
or that new Benz 500 monster, not a goddammed
Oldsmobile Alero or Dodge Stratus. If he's flying
somewhere, it's a private jet or First-class ultra
premium with a blowjob from the stewardess,
not freakin' coach fare on Delta. Anyway, these
folks want to keep watching the watched and
whatching where the watched went and what
they do and assigning watchers who they watch
to watch those who, in turn, watch.
The other folks do drive Dodges, they're gizmos
aren't as fun (guns, tear gas cannisters), they
don't get paid as much and all-in-all they're
regarded as of a lower class of public servant.
They didn't do as well in school and used to
have a fascist director that dressed in women's
clothing and masturbated under his desk. It's
difficult to get over something like that.
These folks don't believe in all that watchin'
when they know who did something they want
to make an arrest. Think Joe Friday Vs. James
Bond. You never hear James Bond reading a
Miranda. Historicaly, they don't even have to
know who did what, just suspect them and
whammo -- they're in jail or here's a tank
coming though the window.
