Is your job one of the 70 that have been cut?

Greetings,

I guess now is as a good as time as any to step back into the fray. I've
actually been taking a bit of a break from Subgenius World.

Thanks for asking Doktor. At the moment, my job is unaffected but hope
holds steady that I will be eliminated at any moment. Truth is, my lovely
spouse and I saw this coming about three years ago and started preparing. As
a result, I'm so ready to leave that I've made it very apparent to anyone
who'll listen that I should be their next choice for who to "let go". Spring
is in the air. I'm not going to return to work until my degree is completed
(this Fall). Even at that, I'm planning to start a whole different gig and
have no intentions of returning to this specific line of grind. I'm not
even quitting my job for "Bob" I am, in fact doing it strictly for no one
other than Professor Pontius Pressure. The government's tit looks mighty
succulent at the moment.

With the potential for the Spring and Summer off, I'm planning to thoroughly
enjoy myself like I haven't been able to do in 25 years. I'm going to fish,
camp, take classes, read, spend time at the library, cook, garden and all of
the other stuff that has to get pushed to the side so I can "make a living".
The house is two years away from being paid for, I'm six months ahead on the
payments, I have no credit cards, bank loans, car payments or other debts to
worry about and I get medical benefits through the wife who's position is
very secure (she also gets Summers off ). I also have an attic full of
toys, robotic parts, computers, controllers, gadgets, gizmos and components
and some very specific ideas for how to use them. All in all, I've got a
pretty good deal cooking here. I don't mean to brag here but damn, it's
good to be in a place where I can really say "Screw the job!" If this is
my mid-life crisis I wish I'd have had it in my 20's.
