Note for instance the Stangish fellow in painting 3,
the saucer
themes, and the squid.

Rev. Rudy Rucker has been a dues-paying SubGenius minister
since the
80s or very early 90s. In fact he penned a whole essay
about how he
became a SubGenius that was reprinted in one of his
collections,
"TRANSREAL." It's the next to last essay in
the book. ""Bob's" Three
Miracles and Me" is the name of the essay. He originally
wrote it for
THREE FISTED TALES OF "BOB," but I didn't
use it because it wasn't a
"tale" about "Bob."
Also, he described me in it as "weasily looking,"
although I think he
ammended that to "ruggedly handsome" (at my
request) by the time it got
in this collection.
He, John Shirley, Lewis Shiner, and Bruce Sterling were
all on a
"cyberpunk" panel at an sf con somewhere,
which is the first time I met
Shirley, Rucker and Sterling. Sterling is not a dues
paying SubGenius
and will likely die on X-Day... DAMN, 'cause he's certainly
a
SYMPATHISER, he just never coughed up that measly ticket
to
immortality.
Rucker is one of several weird-ass math nerds in the
Church, another
fairly visible one being Dr. Mojo, whose Mojoworld program
demo is now
downloadable at http://www.pandromeda.com (it's like
a Bryce 3D world,
but you can fly around in it -- and then make your own.)
Mojo is they
guy who invented the rendering engine that made Bryce
and some other 3D
graphics programs possible. He's also the mad rocket
and explosives
hobbyist who gets us in trouble at Brushwood every year
when his "art"
causes horses for miles around to kick down their stables
in terror.
The Amish HATE Mojo...
Rucker also created the world's first home fractals
program, for
Autodesk, in the olden days. The world's first psychedelic
screen
saver, you might say. He put an Authorized Dobbshead
into it as one of
the templates around which the swirly colors would mutate.
I have a
copy of the program/book, but it is on a bunch of those
big round
actually FLOPPY actual DISKS, I suppose for IBM computers
that predate
even me. You know, that format that came after punch
cards but before
holocubes.

I can think of no higher recommendation for a person
than "It could honestly
be said of him that even the Amish hated him."
I am sitting here slowly shaking my head in awe. I can
just barely get my
brain around the concept of somebody who could make
an Amish person hate
him. I can just barely get my brain around the concept
of an Amish person
hating anybody or anything. And I studied quantum mechanics
AND law. My
brain's got more dimensions than Sister Decadence's
topology.
Wow.

Of course! I remember the Dobbshead in one of his programs.

So that *is* you in the saucer picture. Here is where
you can get
